Green sea turtles frequently visit the bay and can be spotted feeding on the reef. Spinner dolphins, manta rays, and octopuses also occasionally make appearances.
Tips for Snorkeling Hanauma Bay Successfully
To beat the crowds and have the best experience, arrive early before the parking lots fill, especially during peak seasons. Using reef-safe, mineral or non-nano zinc sunscreens will prevent damage to the reef ecosystem. And be cautious of strong currents and surges near the channel openings which may be unsafe at times. Lifeguards are stationed along the bay and can provide warnings.
